Although almost every day at Six Apart is Take Your Dog to Work Day, Friday was extra special because it was the official Take Your Dog to Work Day! Plus, as lovers of blogs and animals, we think it's great that active blogger and Human Society's President and CEO, Wayne Pacelle, thinks having dogs around the office is a good reminder of "who we're working for."
We realize some people have it ruff and aren't lucky enough to be able to bring their dog to work, but hopefully these pictures taken at Six Apart last Friday will get your tails wagging... And let me tell you, it's harder than it looks to get all the doggies and their fetching owners in one picture.
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, today is the summer solstice. For ancient civilizations, this day was akin to our modern day New Year's Eve and was viewed as a time to reflect and renew. So why not kick off your summer celebration with a new theme?
See all of our themes in the Design Area.
Or choose from one of these brand-new themes. (Available under "New.")
I a few words to say many thanks to all the nice words and thoughts from everyone. I have been soooo busy with lots of stuff and not able to add too many new things here lately. I will try to do better soon. (smiles)
Mom came home from Rehab today - no she is not a recovering drug addict! :-) She is just a young 85 year old who took a nasty trip in th barn a while back and broke her hip - and had to have it replaced. I know she is doing better because she has been giving me a really hard time with all her demands! She still thinks I'm her brat kid, (I suppose I am) and when she says jump I need to ask how high?! LOL!
I have been busily trying to get the Gentry web site done too - since it has been a while in the making and I am happy to say it is almost done. I am also trying to get our Kitty Care Guide that we use for our Russian Blues modified for the Devons. And, for those that know me - you surely know I cannot do anything quick and easy. I have to go over it 1000 times to makes sure it sounds just right! Well, maybe not that bad but a lot!
I think it is just too hard for me to place kitties for adoption without these things put into place. So, I need to get them completed. Then I will feel better.
Anyways, I do enjoy seeing all the precious kitties and stories that are posted and I can really feel all your love for them - so kewl! Best to all!
Dang...this picture would be so good but the little stinker was pinching her ears up. This does not show her proper ear set. I was taking these photos last night and in the middle of it, my son Tim burned two of his fingers really bad on the pizza stone. So it got crazy. This little one, Kirlee Sue Who, is so funny. She is always milling around stirring stuff up. Even when everyone else is sleeping she is off on her own little mission. What a girly.
Claire (aka Umpsie Dumpsie) and her baby girl Sea Gal from her current litter. These two look so much a like. The top picture sucks (it's the eye thing). Okay Anna I don't have a good flash like you. Forgive the ugliness. But I posted this picture to show ear set and head type. Umpsie Dumpsie is looking super and we are hoping she goes back into heat and then finds Pony more attractive than she did last time she was in heat. Maybe we can have late fall or winter babies from Pony and Umpsie. Now wouldn't that be something.
Kirlee Sue Who (or is it Monster Rancher?). She has entered the oh so helpful stage. She follows me around to every litter box to assist. Another thing she is doing, is running from me if I reach to pick her up. I don't like this stage. The lovable, sweet little bundle of joy decides she would rather run than to be loved on. Thank goodness it does not last long. She is already coming out of it. But it's still hard. She has also lost that beautiful Koro/Sweet Pea coat she had. I anticipate she will grow it back but another sad day. This little one hisses and spits at the dogs. Terrorizes Winter Hawk, although he secretly loves it. They are best buddies now that Odis has gone to his new home. Kirlee Sue Who is a gift to my mom for helping with the cats while I am at work or a show.
